Ios, one of the most beautiful islands in the Cyclades

The soils of Ios age about 500 million years. The island's climate is cool, so even the periods of high temperature (June-August), the winds will freshen the locals and visitors. The average temperature in the hot summer months is between 27C-29C, while other times 12-18C. It is known worldwide as the young people island, it has to offer visitors, many more than the sun, the sea and the fun. Ships arriving on the island are welcomed by the first beautiful, white chapel of Agia Irini (17th century), which is built right into the harbor. A visitor admires the serenity, the charm and the tranquility of the famous, for the security through morphology, port of Ios. Every summer, it becomes an attraction for Greek and foreign yachts, with about 1500 port of call during the tourist season. It has all the capabilities of supplying yachts with fuel, water, food, ice and electricity from specific slots. The port is the paradise for visitors. Everywhere you can find information! For hotels, restaurants, beaches, roads, entertainment, traffic. The well-organized tourist agencies, and the hospitable locals are always eager to inform and help visitors. In Gialos (otherwise known as the local port) you can find almost everything! Super markets, shops selling clothes and souvenirs, cafes, restaurants, hotels and rooms to rent, bikes and cars. In the small beach of the harbor, visitors can enjoy the sun and sea with a view of ships and boats that go in and out of the port, or can do water sports. There is another option for swimming near the port. 2km. from the port lies the town of Ios. Scenic and white, it is built on the hill, which appears at the top of the beautiful lady of the island! The Panagia Gremiotissa. The view is panoramic. The whole village is poured on her feet forward. On the right is the Port, on the left the windmills, and across the neighboring islands of Sikinos and Santorini. When the weather permits, off in the distance stands the island of Crete. The church Gremiotissa is of Byzantine architecture and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The tradition explains why people of Ios built the church in the cliffs on top of the hill: The image of the Virgin Mary with the Christ, which is now in the church, was once on the Bay Mylopotas in rocks and lit by a candle.
