Samothrace, an island of great natural beauty

This elliptical island covers an area of 180 Sq. klm with a shoreline of 32 klm. Its terrain is mountainous and the highest peak of mount Saos or Saoki is Fengari at 1640m. The crystal-clear sea water and the underwater lushness which reminds you of Coustos documentaries invite you to swim and dive (free and scuba).

A veil of mystery covers the knowledge about ceremonies that were taking place there in ancient times (called Kaveiros Mysteries). The ancient city of Samothrace did not fall short of radiation of Delphi. Today many findings remind the greatness of that season. One of the the most famous masterpieces of antiquity is found in Museum of Louvre (Paris, France), the "Victory of Samothrace".
